SP demands ED inquiry into Maya’s assets
Barely days after coming to power in Uttar Pradesh, the Samaj-wadi Party on Wednesday fired a salvo at BSP supremo Mayawati demanding an inquiry by the ED into the assets of the outgoing chief minister.
“An inquiry should be conducted into the assets earned by BSP supremo Mayawati by the ED,” party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav told reporters at the SP office here.
Mr Yadav, party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav’s cousin, said this while replying to media queries regarding the increase in Ms Mayawati’s wealth.
On Tuesday, when Ms Mayawati filed her Rajya Sabha nomination, she declared her assets at Rs 111.64 crore, double the amount (Rs 52 crore) declared in 2007.
