SP, bjp in UP claim their phones tapped
The Samajwadi Party and the BJP in UP have accused the Mayawati government of tapping the phones of their senior leaders in Uttar Pradesh.
Both the parties further said that the state government had started deploying constables of local intelligence units in the press conferences of senior party leaders. Talking to reporters here on Thursday, Leader of the Opposition Shivpal Singh Yadav stated that phones of senior SP leaders were under surveillance.
“Phones of our prominent party workers were also put under surveillance during our agitational programme. The presence of LIU personnel inside and outside the party office has become a routine affair. Tapping of phones is an undemocratic step and proves that the Mayawati regime is headed by a dictator,” he said and added that LIU personnel were attending the press conferences and internal meetings of the party by sneaking in.
Mr Yadav said that the state government was more interested in spying over the Opposition parties that in ensuring development of the state.
