SP to back UPA, keep ‘communal forces’ out
The Samajwadi Party on Saturday said it will continue support the UPA government to keep “communal forces” out of power but remain opposed to “anti-people” policies of the ruling dispensation.
“We will continue to support UPA to keep communal forces out of power but will oppose its anti-people policies,” SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav told reporters here.
Mr Yadav’s remarks assume significance in the backdrop of Trinamul Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee’s statement that her party was ready to move a no-confidence motion against UPA government on FDI in retail issue and appealed to non-Congress UPA allies and other Opposition parties to support it.
SP has 22 members in Lok Sabha.
Trinamul Congress has withdrawn support to UPA on the issue of FDI in retail and hike in diesel price.
Asked when he thinks the 2014 Lok Sabha polls would be held, Mr Yadav said “this question should be directed at the Prime Minister.

Anna demands judicial inquiry
age correspondent
mumbai, Oct. 6
Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare Saturday demanded a judicial probe into activist Arvind Kejriwal’s allegations against Mr Robert Vadra that he had bought property worth crores of rupees with an “unsecured interest free loan” of `65 crore given by realty major DLF.
“Many Congressmen say that the allegations are baseless. If the allegations are not true, why don’t they (Congress) order a judicial probe into the matter?” Mr Hazare said in his hometown Ralegan Siddhi.
Mr Hazare was reacting to Mr Kejriwal’s allegation against Mr Vadra, the son-in-law of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. “Why doesn’t the Congress go to the court? The truth or lies will be revealed after approaching the court,” he added.
Mr Kejriwal has alleged that Mr Vadra received kickbacks from realty major DLF, and that his income rose from `50 lakh to `300 crore, courtesy land allotments.
Mr Hazare went on to say, “File a defamation against Arvind (Kejriwal) if the allegations are false.”
Earlier in the day, Mr Kejriwal had stated in New Delhi that he is ready to face a defamation case if his allegations against Mr Vadra are proved to be false.
