SP to announce sops for U.P. rickshawpullers

Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav made a new beginning in UP politics on Tuesday when he reached out to a group known by its profession, rather than caste.

Addressing a rally in Sant Kabir Nagar on Tuesday, the SP chief announced that if voted to power, he would make life easier for rickshawpullers by installing motors in cycle rickshaws. He said he would also bring a law to ensure that a rickshaw puller never goes without food. “If voted to power, my government will make sure that rickshaw pullers do not have to sleep on an empty stomach even if he does not earn money on a particular day. Many a times, rickshaw pullers are forced to remain hungry because they have not been able to earn enough money during the day,” he said.
He said that his government would install motors in all cycle rickshaws so that the inhuman task of man carrying man is stopped.
He recalled that in his rule, all the Central funds were put to good use.
