Sonia invites Chiru to Delhi for talks
Praja Rajyam chief K. Chiranjeevi, who was summoned by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, left for New Delhi on Tuesday evening starting rumours that he might be destined for a key position soon.
The Congress had promised a key post to Mr Chiranjeevi in lieu of the merger of his party with the Congress besides protecting the interests of PR MLAs and activists.
Mr Chiranjeevi, accompanied by the party MLC C. Ramachandraiah, is scheduled to meet Mrs Gandhi and Union minister and party in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Gulam Nabi Azad.
It is, however, not clear what post Mr Chiranjeevi will be offered. While some say that he might be offered a CWC membership or be made a Union minister, others are not ruling out the possibilities of him being made the state party chief or even chief minister.
Sources said that Mr Chiranjeevi himself did not have a clue why he was summoned to Delhi.
“Mr Chiranjeevi has been invited to come to Delhi for talks. It is bound to be an important matter, but we are clueless,” said a source.
