Son attacks, loots teacher
The son of a retired head master on Friday attacked his father and escaped with Rs 3.5 lakh kept in the house in Cheyyar in Thiruvannamalai district.
The injured Lingamurthy, a resident of Kumaran Street, was admitted to the government hospital in Cheyyar.
Lingamurthy was attacked by his son Velmurugan on Friday morning after an argument over the money kept at home, according to police.
“Velmurugan was once working in a police department but was dismissed from service. He used to fight with his father demanding money for expenses, including buying alcohol,” the police said.
A few days ago, Lingamurthy had sold his land and had kept Rs 3.5 lakh at home.
Velmurugan, who was aware of this, allegedly demanded the money from his father on Friday morning.
This led to an argument and the son allegedly assaulted Lingamurthy and took away the money, the police said.
