Solar scam: Court pulls up UDF govt
The beleaguered UDF Ministry hit a double whammy on Tuesday when the high court asked whether chief minister Oommen Chandy wasn’t aware of a dubious solar panel deal and Government chief whip P.C. George taunted Mr Chandy and home minister Thiruvanchoor Radhak-rishnan, saying they shouldn’t hang on, as “objects of ridicule”.
The face-saver for Mr Chandy as the ruling United Democratic Front planned a huddle on Wednesday was KC (M) chairman K.M. Mani distancing himself from Mr George and the Court not naming Mr Chandy directly.
“I have spoken to the Advocate General and the Director General of Prosecutions on proceedings in the court and got the official information. First you (media persons)… get full details of what happened in the court”, said Mr Chandy, after TV channels flashed the court criticism.
Mr George said he would have resigned if he were in the chief minister’s position.
“To resign is a personal choice. But Mr Chandy, Mr Radhakrishnan and all of us should ponder whether we should continue like this as objects of ridicule”, he said.
