Snapped ties with all those who ‘betrayed’ Jaya: Sasikala
In an apparent fence-mending move following her expulsion from AIADMK, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's estranged close aide Sasikala on Wednesday said she has snapped ties with all those who had "betrayed" the party supremo.
"It is an unpardonable betrayal by those who claimed to be my relatives and friends to have indulged in activities against Jayalalithaa. Those who betrayed my sister are not needed by me," Sasikala said in a statement.
The statement to AIADMK promoted Jaya TV comes four months after Sasikala was removed from Poes Garden, Jayalalithaa's official residence, in a major clean-up effort to purge AIADMK of her family members.
Several of Sasikala's relatives including her husband Natarajan have been booked by police on various charges since then.
Apparently trying to mend fences with the AIADMK chief, Sasikala said she had dedicated her life to Jayalalithaa and wanted to serve the leader.
Sasikala, who is facing charges in a disproportionate asset case along with Jayalalithaa in a Bangalore court said, "there is no link or relationship with those who betrayed my elder sister."
Sasikala claimed innocence, saying that she came to know about the happenings which were against the party's interest and conspiracy against Jayalalithaa only after she came out of Poes Garden where she had stayed for 24 years.
"This has pained me and shocked me," Sasikala said, adding that all those things happened without her knowledge and this was the 'truth'.
She also said she has no ambition to hold a party post, government position or enter politics.
