Six states to get new PCC chiefs
The Congress high command appears to have made up its mind to appoint the Andhra Pradesh Congress chief from the Kapu community and is expected to announce new PCC chiefs in half-a-dozen states, including Andhra Pradesh, in the coming days.
While Botsa Satyanarayana and Kanna Lakshmi Narayana have emerged as frontrunners for the post of Andhra PCC chief in place of D. Srinivas, Mr Narendra Budania, a sitting MP, could replace Rajasthan PCC chief and Union minister C.P. Joshi, sources said.
The current PCC presidents of Orissa, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir and Mumbai Regional Congress, Mr K.P. Singh Deo, Mr Phool Chand Mulana, Mr Saifuddin Soz and Mr Kripashankar Singh, could be replaced.
The name of Mr Nirajan Patnaik is doing the round for the Orissa PCC chief. But the party is tightlipped on who would succeed Mr Kripashankar Singh in the Mumbai. The appointment will be significant not because of the coming Municipal Corporation election but the process of political realignment taking place in Maharashtra where a section of dalit leaders is openly aligning with the Shiv Sena-BJP combine.
