Singhal: Yatra will not stop

Senior VHP leader Ashok Singhal said on Sunday that the 84-kosi parikrama could not be stopped at this stage and asked the UP government to reconsider its decision to ban the yatra.

Mr Singhal, while talking to reporters after his detention at Lucknow airport, said that “saints from over 700 districts in the country will be reaching Ayodhya over the next few days to participate in the yatra and we cannot stop them form coming. ”The 84-kosi yatra has 40 halts and is scheduled to continue till September 13 as per programme.” The VHP leader expressed shock over the arrest of saints and said their programme was peaceful.
