Shut US varsity was known as 'sham varsity'
Hyderabad/Washington: Given that the UNVA has a significantly large number of foreign students, mostly from India, the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia has asked these students with F-1 visas to approach the department of homeland security with issues related to immigration and optional practical training.
The UNVA is an unaccredited for-profit private undergraduate and graduate university in Annandale, Virginia. The school closed its other locations in Manassas and Sprin-gfield. UNVA also claims it severed its ties with the UNVA campus in Prague.
According to information available on websites UNVA founded in 1998, the university offers bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees.
Although UNVA is not well known within the US, it calls itself the most popular American university for students from India.
US immigration and customs enforcement agents raided UNVA offices and informed school officials in 2011, that the government was ending UNVA’s authorisation to admit foreign students.
In India, UNVA was compared to a “sham university”. On July 16, 2013, the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia revoked UNVA’s licence to operate.
