‘Shiv Sena a threat to Padma temple’
Thiruvanathapuram: The amicus curiae for Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple, Gopal Subramaniam, has recommended the eviction of Shiv Sena from the building rented out to the organisation right outside the temple premises.
The amicus curiae said that Shiv Sena’s activities were posing a threat to the security of the temple. He had also received complaints from the public about prostitution inside the Shiv Sena building at odd hours.
The observations were made by the amicus curiae to the division bench of the Supreme Court on July 3. “The Shiv Sena office is unofficially equipped with arms, including petrol bombs, low frequency bombs and swords,” Subramaniam said in his report.
The Shiv Sena is paying a “very low rent” for the building being used as the organisation’s headquarters in the capital. The building, which has been rented out by the royal family, is near the annadanapura of the temple.
Shiv Sena Kerala Rajya pramukh M.S. Bhuvananchandran said that the Sena would file a case against the amicus curiae for such "baseless and defamatory" statements.“Subramaniam wants to hand over the control of the temple to a particular community,” he charged.Bhuvananchandran said that Shiv Sena was not a criminal organisation. “There is not a single criminal case filed against us. Not even one Shiv Sena member is in the jail. We do only charity work,” he said.
