Shettar on thin ice
Former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has warned that Karnataka will face early elections in February 2013, with the threat implicit that he may not allow the Jagadish Shettar government to complete its full term.
The Lingayat strongman is upset over the government’s move to prevent his loyalists from participating in the launch of his Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) at Haveri. BSY advanced the KJP’s inauguration to Dec. 9 after the government announced a legislature session in Belgaum from December 5-13 which would prevent his supporters from attending the launch.
Handing out a veiled threat to the man he installed as CM five months ago, he said Mr Shettar was heading a “coalition government” backed by his supporters. Any punitive action against them would prove disastrous. “He should be more careful”, BSY said.
