Several NGOs under CBI, ATS scanner

Activities of several NGOs, allegedly supported by right-wing outfits, are now under the scanner of the CBI and the anti-terrorist squad of Rajasthan and Maharashtra which are probing Ajmer, Mecca Masjid and Malegaon blasts.
According to sources, officials of three Rajasthan-based NGOs allegedly supported by right-wing outfits may be questioned by investigating officials. Sources revealed that Chandrashekhar Patidar, arrested by the Rajasthan ATS in connection with Ajmer blast, was reportedly associated with a Rajasthan-based NGO supported by a right-wing outfit.
“There are several NGOs operating in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, which are reportedly getting financial support from several right-wing outfits. Some members of these NGOs are reportedly indulging in anti-social activities also. Officials probing Ajmer, Mecca Masjid and Malegaon blasts may question some office-bearers of these NGOs,” sources said.
Sources said, “There are reports that Chandrashekhar Patidar was in regular touch with members of at least three NGOs. Chandrashekhar Patidar may be questioned again by the investigating officials in this regard, if required.”
Besides, two Madhya Pradesh-based NGOs are also under the scanner of the probing agencies, sources said. Certain MP-based NGOs are also getting financial support from right-wing organisations and their members are reportedly indulging in anti-national activities, sources added.
Meanwhile, investigating agencies are probing the financial sources of radical Hindu outfit, Abhinav Bharat. Sources said Abhinav Bharat was the brainchild of Lt. Col. Prasad Purohit, an accused in 2006 Malegaon blast. Investigations have revealed that it was Purohit who initially arranged funds for the outfit, sources added. Purohit also met certain top leaders of several radical Hindu organisations, including VHP leaders, in Nashik in 2006 and discussed about the Abhinav Bharat concept.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
