Setback to BSY: Stay is set aside
In a development that could have far reaching consequences for former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, the Karnataka high court on Tuesday has set aside an interim order granted in favour of Mr Yeddyurappa staying proceedings before the Lokayukta court in two separate complaints related to corruption cases.
A division bench comprising Justice N. Kumar and Justice Arvind Kumar, who heard the appeal questioning the stay order at length for over 90 minutes, held that a single judge order is not justified and contrary to a decision of the Supreme Court.
“Common man has still hopes on judiciary and orders staying corruption cases may take away such hope,” said Justice N. Kumar while vacating the stay order.
In addition to crafting a strategy to deal with the HC stay being vacated, BSY’s lawyers will have to wait for the Lokayukta court which opens on Friday and could decide on when it will post orders on an earlier bail petition that had been reserved.
If the lower court dismisses the bail plea, Mr Yeddyurappa could go the way of his former IT-BT minister and may have to move HC for bail.
The Lokayukta court will sit on Friday.

BSY, buoyed by victory, meets his loyalists

Is former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa getting ready to rock the boat of his successor D.V. Sadananda Gowda in an attempt to hasten his own comeback?
Buoyed by the victory of Karadi Sanganna in the bypoll to Koppal Assembly constituency, a restive Mr Yeddyurappa reportedly convened a meeting late Monday night with his die-hard supporters, including excise minister MP Renukacharya who has embarrassed the chief minister and state unit president K.S. Eshwar-appa by eulogising the leadership qualities of the former chief minister.
