Separate Jagan Mohan Reddy, Vijay Sai Reddy: CBI
Hyderabad: The CBI on Saturday filed a memo in the special court at Nampally seeking to move V. Vijay Sai Reddy, auditor of Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to another jail from Chanchalguda prison where he was lodged along with Jagan Mohan Reddy and former minister Mopidevi Venkataramana.
The CBI’s deputy legal adviser, B. Ravindranath, said that the investigating agency filed the memo seeking transfer of Mr Vijay Sai Reddy to another prison because “if Jagan and Vijay Sai, the prime accused A-1 and A-2 named in all chargesheets, stay together, they may plan to influence witnesses and also to tamper with the evidence to hamper the investigation pending in other issues.”
Vijay, Jagan in same jail for 11 months
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) did not file a petition to separate Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his auditor V. Vijay Sai Reddy earlier, though the two men have spent more than 11 months together in the same jail. Jail authorities, however, said that they are in separate cells.
Vijay Sai Reddy was arrested in January 2012. He was granted bail by a lower court in April this year. The Supreme Court cancelled the bail and gave him time till June 5 to surrender. After his daughter's marriage, he surrendered in the court.
The CBI has been alleging that Vijay Sai Reddy is the mastermind of the scam and the key mediator between Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy and investors in his company in quid pro quo deals.
