Seemandhra employees to protest near Central offices Friday
Hyderabad: Intensifying their agitation, Pro-united Andhra employees of the state government have decided to organise protests near central government offices on Friday against the proposed bifurcation of the state.
The united-Andhra women protagonists would also hold rallies on September 14, Ashok Babu, leader of the Employees Union, told reporters. The pro-unity employees of various departments began indefinite strike a month ago, but exempted essential services from the stir.
Meanwhile, the 72-hour strike by electricity employees of Andhra-Rayalaseema region began at midnight.
Ashok Babu said that the employees and other united Andhra supporters would be ready to hold talks on the issue of division with any official committee appointed by the Centre, but not with party panels.
The AICC has appointed a committee headed by Defence Minister A.K. Antony to go into various issues following its nod to formation of separate Telangana. Meanwhile, protests continued across the Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions in protest against the proposed division.
