Scribes will face PAC: Joshi
New Delhi, Jan. 16: The senior BJP leader and Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman, Mr Murli Manohar Joshi, has said that journalists whose names cropped up in the 2G spectrum allocation scam tapes will face the committee.
In an interview to a private news channel on Sunday, Mr Joshi said “The Editors and senior journalists, who have incriminated themselves in a way on the 2G scam tapes, will be summoned by the PAC.” He added that the telecom scam had caused huge losses to the exchequer and that if the taped conversation points towards someone, the PAC would summon that individual.
The conversations between certain journalists and corporate lobbyist, Ms Niira Radia, tapped by the I-T officials and leaked to the media have been severely criticised by people and political parties but this is the first time the PAC chief has clearly said that journalists whose names have emerged will have to appear before the committee.
On the “Hindu terror” issue, Mr Joshi said that terrorism has no religion but there are some senior Congress leaders who are trying to portray this so called “Hindu terror” as the worst ever form of terrorism. The senior BJP leader also denied that his party’s association with the RSS, is coming in the way of increasing party’s vote bank.
When asked about the “Hindutva” ideology of the RSS, which is facing the heat after certain persons closely associated with the Sangh are being questioned for bomb blast cases, Mr Joshi described Hinduism as a “lifestyle, not a codified religion”.
On his party’s performance in Uttar Pradesh, from where Mr Joshi is an MP, he said BJP’s performance is improving in the state.
