Scotch bottle had blood of both victims: CBI

The CBI probe into the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder has revealed that a bottle of Scotch whisky present at the time on the dining table of Dr Rajesh Talwar, the father of the deceased, had traces of the “blood of both victims” on it.
This apparently indicates the involvement of inmates of the Talwar residence, sources in the CBI said. While a designated CBI court in Ghaziabad is set to take up the closure report filed by the CBI on Monday in connection with the double murder, the teenager’s parents, Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, want the probe to go on. The murdered girl’s mother, Nupur, said on Sunday, “We don’t want the case to be closed.”
Talking to this newspaper, Mrs Nupur Talwar said, “We hope that the probe agency will be asked to re-investigate the case by the court.” Fourteen-year-old Aarushi was murdered in the intervening night of May 15-16, 2008 at the Talwar residence in Noida. The body of their domestic help, Hemraj, was found on the terrace the next day.
However, the agency, in its report, has clearly mentioned: “It was unlikely that an intruder would return to the flat to take liquor after committing two murders. When Aarushi was assaulted, the door of her bedroom was open.” The Scotch bottle recovered from the dining table of Dr Rajesh Talwar had traces of the “blood of both victims” on it, says the report.
Sources in the agency said, “An intruder is unlikely to take liquor inside the flat after committing a double murder when they know that the parents are sleeping in the next room.” As per the Uttar Pradesh police diary, the bottle of Scotch was taken into possession on the morning of May 16 itself. In spite of their best efforts, the fingerprint/s could not be identified because of contamination, sources added. Besides, the entire data on Aarushi’s mobile was deleted after her murder, sources said.
“The findings of the investigation reveal a number of circumstances that indicate the involvement of the parents in the crime and the cover-up. However, there are a number of critical and serious gaps in the circumstances which make it difficult to string together the sequence of events and motive behind the murder,” sources said. The investigating team was handicapped by the inability of the first responders to examine the scene of crime properly and collect all possible evidence which could be available only to the first responder (the UP police), sources added.
The blood-soaked clothes of the offenders, the clothes used to clean the blood from the flat and staircase, the sheet on which Hemraj was carried and dragged on the roof, the bedcover used to block the view from the steel iron grill on the roof were not available and hence could not be recovered, sources said. The probe has also revealed that the identical measurement of the wound caused by a blunt weapon on both victims suggests that the same weapon was used against both victims, sources added.
