Schoolgirl, 4, raped in bus

In another horrific incident, a four-year-old girl student of a reputed school in Badlapur was allegedly raped by the school bus cleaner in the back of the vehicle.

The cleaner was arrested after the incident came to light. The crime took place on September 6 and was revealed around three days ago when doctors treating the girl for a stomachache detected that she had been sexual assaulted. After the parents filed a complaint on Saturday, the Badlapur police arrested the 26-year-old driver.
The accused, Sandeep Karve, lured the girl into the back of the bus by promising to show her some magic tricks and then allegedly raped her. The victim is studying in the senior division of the kindergarten section of the school. The accused took advantage of a system where kindergarten students — who finish school by 4.30 pm — have to wait for secondary and senior secondary pupils who end their day by 5.30 pm. “The accused then let the girl go before other students started boarding the bus. She was also crying during the journey home when some of her friends questioned her,” said PI (crime) S.K. Mohite.
Around three days ago, the girl was visiting one of her aunts for Ganeshotsav and began complaining of stomachache. The family then took her to a private doctor who suspected a sexual assault, following which the family went to a government hospital. Doctors there advised the parents to file a police complaint and an FIR was registered on Saturday morning.
“We have arrested the accused,” he said.
and will produce him in court on Sunday. We still need some clarity on the aspect of penetrative sexual assault, which the medical report will conclude. However, based on the father’s claims, we had to register a case under Section 376 (rape) of the IPC,” Mr Mohite added. Relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (PCSOA) have also been applied.
