SC panel wealth survey to go on
The expert panel deputed by the Supreme Court has decided to continue with its task of assessing the wealth found in the vaults of the Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple despite the dire warnings issued by the seers who conducted a devaprasnam in the last few days.
The panel, headed by the National Museums vice-chancellor, Mr CV. Ananda Bose, had met here the other day to frame a modus operandi for the scientific assessment of the wealth.
However, the erstwhile royal family of Travancore, the custodian of the temple, conducted a devaprasnam before the panel could start its work.
The devaprasnam warned that the deity was against the assessment of the wealth as well as the opening of the remaining secret vault.
Sources said that the panel would go about its task of assessing the wealth that has been disclosed so far without taking a final decision on opening the secret celllar.
It would steer clear of any controversy and would conduct its work in a sober manner.
It has been asked to sort out the wealth into those required for rituals, those that have historical value and those that do not belong to either category.
Meanwhile, the royal family has reportedly decided to present before the Supreme Court the findings of the devaprasnam.
