SC asks TN, Kerala not to ‘add fuel’ to row over dam
A five-member Supreme Court Constitution Bench Tuesday criticised the Tamil Nadu and Kerala governments for “adding fuel” to the Mullaperiyar dam controversy, asking both to maintain “sanity and sensitiveness” while dealing with the issue.
The bench, comprising Justices D.K. Jain, R.M. Lodha, Deepak Verma, C.K. Prasad and A.R. Dave, was critical of the Tamil Nadu and Kerala governments. It rejected Tamil Nadu’s application seeking to direct the Kerala government to stop creating a “fear psychosis” among people. “Both parties, instead of dousing the fire, are adding fuel to it,” it said.
