SC asks details on religious places damaged in Gujarat riots
The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Gujarat government to submit details of religious places either demolished or damaged during 2002 riots.
In a major rebuke to Narendra Modi government, the apex court urged it to quantify the amount needed to repair religious sites damaged during the communal violence that rocked Gujarat in 2002 post-Godhra riots.
Further, the Supreme Court would examine whether compensation could be given in cases of religious sites being damaged in riots or natural calamities.
