Samajwadi MLA seals doctor’s clinic
Samajwadi Party legislators are happy taking the law into their hands in the name of the common man and are publicly justifying their law-defying acts too.
The latest in the line is Tej Narain Pandey, the SP MLA from Ayodhya who went ahead and “sealed” the private clinic of a government doctor because the latter spent more time with his private patients than in the government hospital. Tej Narain Pandey, a former student leader, went on “inspection” of the Faizabad district hospital on Thursday evening ad found a long queue of patients outside the room of Dr R.B. Varma, a skin specialist.
The patients told the MLA that the doctor spent more time at his private clinic and was rarely available at the government hospital. The patients said that they were often forced by the doctor’s staff to go to his private clinic where he charged a hefty fee and made the patients purchase medicines from his clinic.
An angry Tej Narain Pandey called the CMO and a magistrate and raided the doctor’s clinic and sealed it himself. The doctor was not present in the clinic at the time of the raid. CMO Faizabad, Dr A.C. Tiwari, told reporters on Friday that Dr Varma was practising at his private clinic and was not coming to hospital. “Before, we reached there someone from hospital informed Varma about our raid, so he ran away from his clinic. We also found prescription pads, a chemist shop and many patients there. We have sealed Varma’s clinic and we are also writing to the department for action against him,” the CMO said.
