Sajjan Kumar acquitted in ’84 riot case
A Delhi court on Tuesday acquitted Congress leader Sajjan Kumar of all charges against him in one of three 1984 anti-Sikh riot cases. Immediately after the verdict, a man named Karnail Singh Peer hurled a shoe at the judge as protests erupted inside and outside the Karkardooma court. (He was imm-ediately arrested.)
District and sessions judge J.R. Aryan let off Mr Kumar in the 29-year-old case. He was accused of murder and instigating a riotous mob that killed five Sikhs in Delhi Cantonment on November 2, 1984. Five others were, however, convicted for their role in the riots.

India, china hold third flag meet
Age Correspondents
New Delhi, April 30
The Indian Army and Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) held their third flag meeting at Chushul, in eastern Ladakh, on Tuesday, but this was yet to yield any tangible result. Defence minister A.K. Antony made it clear the current situation was “not one of our (India’s) creation” but added that the country would “take every possible step, at all levels, to safeguard our interests”.
Chinese troops have been occupying a tented post — comprising five tents — for the past 15 days in the Daulat Beg Oldi area of eastern Ladakh, resulting in a face-off with Indian troops. Government sources said during discussions Chinese troops offered to withdraw nearly 100 metres to break the stalemate, but Indian forces dema-nded nothing short of a complete withdrawal.
