Sainiks throng Balasaheb’s home
“Darshan dya, darshan dya, Balasaheb darshan dya” is the incessant chant outside Matoshree since the last two days, as Shiv Sainiks waiting outside Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray’s residence have only one thing on their mind. They want a glimpse of their beloved leader.
Since news of the deteriorating health of their party chief spread, Shiv Sainiks have thronged around Matoshree and it was only after the party leaders assured them about of Mr Thackeray’s improving condition, did the crowds abate on Friday. However, many hardcore party workers have still stayed put. Kailash Gulve, a 25-year-old youth from Nashik, has been lingering outside Matoshree asking everyone about saheb’s health. Hearing of Mr Thackeray’s precarious condition, Mr Gulve had immediately rushed from his Vanjarwadi village to Mumbai. “I have been a Shiv sainik since my childhood and Balasaheb is our messiah,” Mr Gulve said. “I would do anything to see him back in a healthy condition.” As the police cordoned off the Matoshree area, Shiv Sainiks have had no options, but to wait outside. But many of them expressed displeasure as celebrities were given way. “It is because of us that the Sena has grown as a major force in the state, not the film stars. Instead of them, we should be given a chance to meet our party leader.”
