Sadho is Cong MP RS pick
The Congress party’s decision to nominate Vijaylaxmi Sadho as the party’s nominee from Madhya Pradesh for the Rajya Sabha polls could be viewed as a balancing act to counter inner-party rivalry and manoeuvres of the warring factions within the state party unit.
Ms Sadho, a sitting MLA and a former state minister, is a strong supporter of the state Congress president Suresh Pachouri.
Her nomination for Rajya Sabha should send a clear message in Congress circles here that there is no premium for those fanning dissent or factionalism in the State party unit.
Mr Pachouri, who has had a long stint in RS and has served as Union minister for two terms, was a strong favourite for yet another term in the Upper House especially in view of the Congress party’s enhanced performance in last year’s Lok Sabha election in MP. As state president, he has been leading the state party from the front.
