Russian tourist stabbed for resisting theft attempt

A Russian tourist was allegedly stabbed after she resisted a loot attempt by an unidentified local youth at Neergaddu fall in Tehri district near Rishikesh, police said today.

The incident took place last evening when Ellana Lorionaowa (25) visited the tourist spot of Neergaddy fall, DSP (Narendranagar) Rajesh Bhatt said.

A youth came to her and tried to snatch her bag and camera, he said, adding that when she resisted the attempt, he took out a knife and attacked her.

Lorionaowa managed to escape with her belongings and reported the matter to the police, who took her to a hospital, he said.

No arrest has been made in the case so far and the investigation is on, he added.
