Ruchika Girhotra case: Family withdraws case against ex-cop
The family of Ruchika Girhotra, a minor girl who allegedly committed suicide after molestation by former Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) S.P.S Rathore, has withdrawn the torture charges against the ex-police official.
According to media reports, the family told the CBI that it has no objection to closing of the case.
The Girhotra family had earlier alleged that S.P.S. Rathore had tortured Ruchika's brother. The CBI had filed a closure report in the case around 20 months back.
Ruchika had committed suicide after allegedly being molested and harassed by the Rathore.
A CBI court in Chandigarh had, in December 2009, found Rathore guilty and sentenced him to six years of rigorous imprisonment for molesting Ruchika on August 12, 1990.
He is currently out on bail from the Supreme Court.
