RSS shows Modi Lakshman Rekha
The RSS has cautioned Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi not to cross the Lakshman Rekha. The RSS, it was learnt, has reminded Mr Modi that he is not bigger than the organisation and reports of his rift with senior leader L.K. Advani will only damage his likely chances of getting a prominent role at the national level politics. Mr Modi’s reluctance to involve BJP top brass while taking major decisions, has also not gone down well with the RSS. The RSS, sources disclosed, has told the Gujarat chief minister that opposition or media should not get any chance to divert the issue from Mr Advani’s Janchetna yatra when it reaches his state.
The BJP top brass is still unsure whether Mr Advani will be received by Mr Modi when the yatra reaches Gujarat or he will commission senior state leaders for the task. The yatra, beginning from October 11 is expected to reach Gujarat on November 6.
Sources disclosed that the sangh, which is in favour of Mr Modi as the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate, is of the view that Mr Modi is not giving importance to the organisation. The RSS has conveyed its displeasure to Mr Modi and had told him that no one can challenge the authority of the organisation.
Even though the Sangh parivar is in favour of bringing Mr Modi at national level politics, a majority of the RSS top brass is miffed with him for organising the “Sadbhavna Mission” fast without consulting the sangh parivar. The RSS is also unhappy with reports of Mr Modi’s differences with Mr Advani over Janchetna yatra, which apparently resulted in the change of starting point of this yatra from Gujarat to Bihar. They are also unhappy with him for not attending the BJP’s recently concluded national executive meet.
Sources said one of the reasons why Mr Modi did not attend the meet despite BJP chief himself urging him, was his anger over responsibilities given to former BJP general secretary Sanjay Joshi, his known political opponent and an RSS man.
Some of the BJP leaders had complained to the RSS top brass that in Gujarat, even matters related to the organisation, needs to be first cleared by Mr Modi.
