Rss magazine in schools: Mantri defends move
The Madhya Pradesh Assembly was emphatically told by the state school education minister Archana Chitnis on Wednesday that the children’s magazine Devputra is being distributed in state government-run schools under the policy to inculcate values and to educate the students about every religion.
Devputra is a publication said to be closely associated with the RSS and its philosophy.
The education minister was participating in the debate on the no-confidence motion against the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government, which commenced on Monday. Throwing light on the secular credentials of the state government, Ms Chitnis said that earlier there were only 443 government aided “madrasas”, but now their number has gone up to 1,237. Earlier, 750 madrasa teachers were receiving financial aid, whereas now their number is 1,924, she told the House.
