Rs 10L jewellery robbed
Nellore: A seven-member dacoit gang, suspected to be from the Krishnagiri belt of Kar-nataka state, broke into the house of a realtor, Pra-bhakar Reddy alias Pulla Reddy, at Padarupalle village in Kovur mandal, a few kms away from Nellore town, in the early hours of Monday and decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20,000 cash, after threatening the inmates at knife point.
According to police, quoting the version of victims and after preliminary investigation, the gang, all masked and speaking in broken Telugu with a mix of Kannada, broke the doors of the posh house, resided by Pulla Reddy’s sister Prabhavati and her husband.
The couple were threatened at knife point and their hands were tied.
The fear-stricken couple divulged the places where the jewels and cash were kept. After making good their booty, the gang forced the couple to reveal further details about the jewellery. They were made to take an oath that they had no more jewellery or cash available in the house. Ms Prabhavati, was made to take an oath on her Mangalasutram. Inter-estingly, the gang members inspected the gold mangalasutram worth around Rs 1 lakh and after discussing among themselves left the place without taking it. The couple said that the gang carried lethal weapons including iron rods, clubs and daggers. While leaving, the gang threatened the couple of dire consequences if they any alarm till morning.
The couple, fearing that the gang might strike again, remained indoors till 5 am and later lodged a complaint with the police.
The special team of police reached the spot and collected some clues. SP Mr B.V. Ramana Kumar expressed doubts about the involvement of notorious Krishnagiri gang members in the incident.
Special teams were sent to the suspected areas to nab the culprits.
