Row over Ashok Chakra on wedding invite
Mr Sanjay Singh Chauhan, RLD MP from Bijnore, has landed in trouble by printing the national symbol (Ashok Chakra) on his son’s wedding card.
The wedding card is printed in the format of the MP’s letter head and has the Ashok Chakra, along with the words “Satyamen Jayate” printed on the top.
The wedding of the MP’s son, Chandan Chauhan is scheduled to be held on December 6 and thousands of invite have been distributed.
Talking to this correspondent, a senior lawyer in the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court said that this amounted to a violation of law since the national symbol could only be used by prescribed persons and hat too for prescribed purposes.
“It is certainly not meant to be used on wedding cards,” the lawyer said.
