Rights body notice to UP on atrocities
The UP State Human Rights Commission, taking suo moto cognisance of alleged atrocities on farmers in Bhatta Parsaul village, has served a notice on the Uttar Pradesh government.
The commission has directed UP principal home secretary and DGP to submit their report on the incident by June 24.
The chairman of the commission, Justice H.K. Sema, said that the reply of the state government was necessary in view of allegations of police atrocities including killing of farmers and rape of women. The commission has further asked the officers to place their report on July 5.
