Revelations embarrass govt, but CM unmoved
UP minister Ahmad Hasan has said that suspended IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal should apologise even as embarrassment for the Akhilesh Yadav government over her suspension intensified on Tuesday after it was found that the report of the local intelligence unit sent to the state government has categorically stated that the wall of the mosque in Greater Noida was demolished on July 27 in the presence of circle officer and SDM, Jewar.
Ms Nagpal, who was posted as SDM Sadar, was not even present at the spot and yet she has been suspended for ordering the demolition of the wall.
The state government, however, refuses to accept its mistake and senior SP minister Ahmad Hasan told mediapersons on Tuesday that Durga Shakti Nagpal should apologise.
“She did not do her duty and she has destroyed the credibility of the cadre,” he said. He further described her as “mindless” and said, “When we reveal the family to which she belongs, you will realise what are you supporting.”
Meanwhile, highly-placed sources said that the report, signed by DIG, intelligence, Sanjay Srivastava, states, “The SDM (Jewar) along with circle officer and SHO, Raghupura, team reached the village at around 1 pm and got the wall, which is of about 10 feet in height and constructed from three sides, demolished. The administration said that the action has been taken as no permission has been sought for construction of the mosque.”
The report was received by the state government on July 27 at 5 pm and Ms Nagpal was suspended after midnight on the same day. The state government has, all along been maintaining that it was Ms Nagpal who went to Kadalpur village and got the wall demolished.
