Retired babus in UP get new assignments
UP chief minister Mayawati is in a generous mood these days — especially when it comes to rehabilitating retired bureaucrats.
Almost every senior bureaucrat who has proved his loyalty towards the state government has been given a post-retirement assignment by the chief minister.
The chief minister appreciates the “dedication and loyalty” of bureaucrats and rewards them with an assignment after retirement.
Former UP chief secretary Atul Kumar Gupta, who retired from service on Thursday, is all set to take up his new assignment as chairman of the newly formed Uttar Pradesh Local Bodies Financial Resources Development Board (UPLBFRDB).
Earlier, agricultural production commissioner Anis Ansari was made vice-chancellor of the Manyavar Kanshi Ram Urdu Arabian Persian University that is yet to become functional. Mr Ansari will have a three-year term as vice-chancellor and one year has already gone by.
Senior IAS officer S R Lakha was similarly rewarded with the chairmanship of UP Public Service Commission and after he completed his tenure at the UPPSC, he has been appointed vice-chancellor of Gautam Buddha University in Noida.
A senior IPS officer Malkiat Singh, who recently retired from service, will replace S.R. Lakha as chairman in the UPPSC.
Mr Ranjit Singh Pankaj, who retired from the post of managing director of Mineral Development Corporation, has a new assignment on hand — that of chief information commissioner of UP.
Senior IAS officer Diwakar Tripathi, who retired as secretary information last year, has been appointed as OSD in the same department t and the government is using his PR skills to improve its image.
Shri Krishna, another IAS officer has also been given a new assignment after retirement.
He now heads the National Integration Commission in UP.
Senior IPS officer Ram Lal Ram has been made the head of the Police Establishment Board after retirement while former chief secretary Shambhu Nath now keeps himself busy as chairman of the Hindi Sansthan.
Explaining the trend a senior official in the chief minister’s secretariat said, “This is the chief minister’s way of rewarding officials who have worked with dedication and sincerity. This should also be an incentive for younger officers.”
