Reshuffle gives no strong signal: BJP
The main Opposition BJP, which has been attacking the UPA government on numerous issues including corruption, said the ministerial reshuffle on Wednesday failed to give any political message. The main Opposition said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has “only sent his ministers from one building to the other.”
Claiming that Prime Minister did not get a free hand in effecting UPA II first ministerial reshuffle, the party said the exercise has “failed” to show the government’s resolve to fight corruption.
“The reshuffle has failed to show the government’s resolve to fight corruption. The only message one gets is that even today, the PM is not able to effect a reshuffle by rising above pressure. He has failed on the expectations of the people,” BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain said.
The party claimed that no “brave efforts” were made to remove those ministers against whom there were talks (of corruption) or those whose names have appeared in the Niira Radia tapes.
