Rescue team inches closer to girl trapped in borewell
The team involved in the rescue operation of a four-year-old girl, trapped in a 70-feet-deep borewell near here, on Saturday claimed they were inches away from reaching the child.
"A narrow distance is left to reach the girl," an official said. The work to rescue Mahi was earlier hampered by the presence of hard rocks which had come in the way of the link to be established between the borewell and the parallel pit dug up in order to reach her.
Officials said the rescue team has now managed to remove most of the concrete and are now making their way towards the girl, who fell into the borewell at Kho village near Manesar on June 20 while playing.
Oxygen is being constantly supplied to Mahi since the rescue operation began. Over 100 officials drawn from army, fire, police, Gurgaon Rapid Metrorail, health and revenue departments, and locals have been involved in drilling a pit parallel to the borewell.
