Remove TNCC president, Vasan tells Sonia, Rahul
Upping the ante against Tamil Nadu state Congress president K.V. Thangabalu, Union shipping minister G.K. Vasan on Monday called on party supremo Sonia Gandhi and party general secretary Rahul Gandhi and sought to persuade them to remove Mr Thangabalu from the president ship of the state unit. A few days back Union home minister and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram too made a similar request to Mrs Gandhi.
Talking to reporters after meeting Mrs Gandhi, Mr Vasan said that he thanked them for having campaigned in the state and briefed them about his expectation as to how many seats the combine will triumph in. He said, “I have told both Mrs Gandhi and Mr Rahul that the DMK-Congress alliance will romp home by virtue of the developmental works initiated by the Congress-led UPA and the DMK-led DPA. I thanked them as well for having campaigned in the state.”
