‘Remove Left from last post’
AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Thursday launched a scathing attack against the Communists and given a call to remove them from their last post. “They have been removed from West Bengal and Kerala and now is the turn for Tripura,” he said.
Addressing two public meetings at Kailasahar and Udaipur as part of his Northeast tour he said, while the country is moving ahead the Communist government in Tripura is trying to turn the time backward and took a position against the poor by not implementing the pro-poor schemes initiated by the UPA government. “Such a government should not remain in power,” he said.
Though the state Assembly election is one year away this visit is virtually considered by the local Congress workers as launching of the election campaign and they turned out in large number to hear him.
Mr Gandhi also did not disappoint them and assured all cooperation from his side. “I am ready to attend as many meetings as required,” he said.
He appears to have a message for Trinamul Congress supremo and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, who recently stated that her party will form the government in Tripura and she will visit the state soon. Mr Gandhi said the large turnout in Thursday’s meeting proves that the Congress is the only alternative in the state.
He advised the party workers to remain with the people, to hear their grievances and to help them.
