Relatives rush to railway station
Anxious relatives of the passengers onboard the Kalka Mail rushed to the New Delhi railway station after hearing the news of the derailment. The relatives gave vent to their anger following the train accident at Malwa in UP.
Fifty-six-year-old Ratan Kumar was angry to know that his son Manoj travelling in the ill-fated train was trapped for over three hours before he was rescued. “Manoj was in the S-9 coach of the train and was injured in the accident. The most disturbing aspect was that it took more than three hours for the rescue team to retrieve him out of the badly damaged compartment,” said Mr Kumar.
The Northern Railways has stated that a nine-bogey train will depart from the New Delhi Railway Station at 9 pm on Sunday for the relatives of the victims. The same train will return with those victims who want to come to Delhi.
Another relative named Mahendra Sircar whose father was on board in the S-12 coach of the ill-fated train was furious at the chaos prevailing at the railway station with no information being provided to the relatives.
However, he was relieved after talking to his father over the phone who told him that there was no injury to him.
Bhaskar Prateek who too was on board the ill-fated train to attend the marriage of his friend had to cut short his journey.
“I was sleeping when the train derailed. When I came out of the bogey I saw about 50 bodies being carried out after which I fainted,” said Mr Prateek, who was not injured.
He took a taxi to rush to Mughalsarai to rush back to Howrah.
A large number of relatives were seen seeking information from the railways officials on Sunday evening at the New Delhi railway station.
