Rajnath meets RSS brass day after Advani
BJP president Rajnath Singh on Saturday met RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Bhaiyyaji Joshi at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur. The meeting, which took place a day after senior BJP leader L.K. Advani’s meeting with the RSS chief, went on for almost two hours.
After the meeting, the BJP chief claimed that “politics was not discussed and that the meeting had nothing to do with the formulation of a strategy over the forthcoming elections”. He also denied that Mr Advani was angry at being sidelined by the party.
“Advaniji is not upset. There are no differences in our party. As far as Advaniji is concerned, he is our tallest leader,” he said. He claimed the meeting was part of a routine discussion. However, RSS sources said Mr Advani’s and other senior leaders’ roles was one of the issues discussed in the two-hour meeting. Sources said the-re may be a few announcements in the offing in a few days. Speaking about the BJP’s stand on the food security bill, Mr Singh said his party would not oppose the passage of the bill in Parliament but seek amendments to it. “We will not oppose it in the forthcoming Monsoon Session.”
