Rajasthan man kills self ‘to meet God’
Rajasthan saw yet another case of superstition when a person committed suicide because he wanted to meet God. The police in Sikar on Monday recovered the body of Ashok Kumar [40] from a tailoring shop and found that he ended his life by hanging himself. The victim left a suicide note saying he was going to meet God.
It is the second case in a fortnight in Rajasthan when the belief to meet God proved fatal. In March, five members of photographer Kanchan Singh’s family in Swai Madhopur district had consumed poison laced laddoo as prasad and died. According to the Sikar police, the victim said in his suicide note that his death was a sacrifice in a belief to meet God.
He said he was responsible for his decision to leave this world and going to meet his God. The victim also put some couplets in Hindi and said no one should be blamed for his death. The victim Ashok was working at a tailoring shop. The neighbours informed the police when they found his shop closed. According to the police, the deceased had some dispute with his wife and the couple separated. His wife was living somewhere else.
In March, a photographer Singh performed yajna and a special pooja at his residence and distributed sweets laced with poison in Gangapur City under Swai Madhopur district.
It proved fatal and five of the family members that included Kanchan Singh, his wife Neelam and three children died.
