Raja kin grilled by CBI
The CBI on Tuesday questioned brother of former telecom minister A. Raja in connection with its probe into the 2G spectrum scam.
According to sources, Raja’s brother A.K. Perumal was grilled by the agency officials for nearly six hours at the agency headquarters. The agency had questioned Raja for over eight hours on Monday. The CBI is likely to make some signifiacnt arrests in a day or two.
Sources further said the agency is in the process of questioning all those whose premises were recently searched by it in connection with the investigations into the scam.
The agency officials had carried out searches on the premises and business establishments of Mr Raja’s brother, close relatives and business associates, including Sadiq Basha, in Tiruchy, Perambalur and Ariyalur on December 15, last year.
The CBI had earlier registered a case against unknown officials of department of telecommunication (DoT) and unknown private persons, companies and others under different sections of Prevention of Corruption Act in connection with alleged irregularities in the allotment of 2G spectrum licenses.
Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has now started analysing the details of recent questioning of former telecom minister, his associate Sadiq Basha, and corporate lobbyist Nira Radia, carried out by the CBI.

China, Pak, Iran not invited to air show

Feb. 1: China, Iran and Pakistan have not been invited by India for the Aero India 2011 airshow that will be held at Bengaluru from February 9 to 13, senior ministry of defence (MoD) confirmed on Tuesday. The MoD is the organiser of the biennial event. The largest number of participating companies are from the United States which is steadily expanding its defence relationship with India.
Further, a Chinese journalist also complained publicly on Tuesday that Chinese journalists were not being allowed to cover the Aero India, as the name of China is missing from the list.
