Raj Thackeray ‘permits’ Sur Kshetra airing
Going back on his threat to disrupt a TV show featuring Pakistani artistes, MNS chief Raj Thackeray on Thursday gave the “green signal” for its telecast after a meeting with producer Boney Kapoor and CEO of the TV channel, Raj Nayak. Mr Thackeray, however, did not forget to assert that such shows would not be allowed in the future.
Mr Thackeray, whose real name is Swararaj, gave the green signal to airing of the show Sur Kshetra featuring Pakistani artists after the officials and producers met him at his residence at Dadar, informed a MNS official.
“We met with Mr Thackeray and told him that we have shot over 15 episodes of the show and that we are really looking forward to air the show as scheduled,” Mr Kapoor told media persons after the meeting.
Mr Thackeray told them that he stands by his views and that it is wrong to entertain Pakistani artistes when Indians are not welcomed in their country. “The MNS will not oppose the show as it has already been shot and a lot of money has been spent. However, Mr Thackeray has asked the show producers to keep public sentiments in mind and made it clear that the MNS would not allow such shows in future,” the MNS official said.
On August 30, the MNS had issued a diktat to Colors to not broadcast the show and the MNS chief had also appealed to Ms Bhosle to not participate in the show, which led to major verbal duel between the two.
