Rain may have washed away crucial evidence
Incessant rains may have played a spoilsport for the forensic experts who had come to collect evidence and samples from outside the Delhi high court on Wednesday where a powerful explosion left at least 11 dead.
When the team of National Investigation Agency and forensic experts of different government agencies were examining the site, rains came down heavily and washed away the area around the site. Water was collected in the crater that was created by the impact of the explosion and the investigators were left to gather each and every piece of material that was lying around the site.
The hesitation became apparent when the team of NIA and other forensic experts kept piling box after box of various samples which were collected from the site. The teams also stayed at the barricaded site for a long time before the locals and staff of the court were allowed to move in through gate No 5 where the explosion had happened.
“We have collected a large cache of samples to avoid any loss of any crucial evidence. Some nails were also found at the explosion site. The rains may have hampered the gathering of evidence but we won’t leave any stone unburned,” a senior police official said.
