Rahul's strike rate 'in minus' in Bihar polls: BJP
The BJP on Saturday took pot-shots at Mrs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul in the context of Bihar Assembly poll outcome saying the Congress general secretary's strike rate was "in minus" as the party fared poorly wherever he canvassed.
"Sonia and Rahul campaigned extensively in Bihar. Rahul campaigned in 70 districts and 22 seats but the party could not win a single seat in any of these. The party won four seats in two areas — Kishanganj and Purnia — where he did not go. Thus, his strike rate is in minus", BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told reporters here.
He said the BJP sympathised with the Congress for its "massive loss" in the Bihar elections and said the party was in a state of disarray and its leaders were directionless.
Hussain was also critical of Mrs Gandhi’s statement made in Gujarat on Friday where the Congress leader compared the chief minister Narendra Modi with Chinese revolutionary leader Mao.
"Rahul Gandhi wants to take out the frustration of Bihar's election loss in Gujarat. Such statements are expected from him at such a time. We have sympathy for him and we can understand what his mental condition would be like after such a big loss", the BJP leader said.
He said the people of Gujarat have time and again given a fitting reply whenever such statements emerge from a national party like Congress.
"We wish that he campaigns in Gujarat in 2012 just as he did in Bihar and go to all the constituencies and face an even bigger defeat", Hussain said.
