Rahul’s road show receives huge response
Groups of girls with sticks of roses cheering loudly, young boys waving the tricolour, children throwing rose petals and the elderly lining the road, waving out.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s 34-km-long road show in Lucknow on Thursday evening evoked an overwhelming response as it wound its way through five Assembly segments in the state capital.
Mr Gandhi had held two meetings in support of Congress candidates in the outer rural constituencies of Lucknow on Wednesday.
Mr Gandhi, standing at the doorway of his specially designed bus, waved out to the crowds, accepted bouquets and smiled at his supporters.
People climbed on to roof tops, balconies and even electric poles to catch a glimpse of the Congress leader an security personnel had a tough time keeping the crowds at bay.
All the Congress candidates of the five Assembly segments and Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee president Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who is contesting the Lucknow Cantt seat, accompanied him on the road show.
