Rahul ridicules freebie offers by other parties
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said on Saturday that the Congress was not offering a bouquet of promises to voters because he knew that change could not be brought about overnight.
Addressing a rally in Unnao, Mr Gandhi lashed out at the Samajwadi Party and its manifesto. “The SP has promised free electricity to farmers. From where will they get electricity when there are no power plants? Will they get electricity from the sky? This is election time so they will make promises that they know cannot be fulfilled. If you want them to, they will even say that they will change the colour of the sky to green or yellow. We are not making such promises but our intentions are clear. We will work for the common man,” he said.
Mr Gandhi said the Congress would make all-inclusive policies. “We are not working for 10 per cent of the population or just one caste or community. Our policies succeed because they are for all. For example, MNREGA is for all, not for one caste or one group,” he pointed out.
