Rahul dismisses BSP in next polls
In what can easily be termed as his most aggressive posture against the Mayawati government till date, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday virtually dismissed the BSP’s prospects in the next UP elections.
Mr Gandhi, while addressing a rally in Ahraura in Mirzapur district, also known as the epicentre of UP’s Naxal belt, said, “In the next election, I know you will vote the BSP out but the question is not just about defeating the BSP. The question is about the future of Uttar Pradesh and if you want to change your future for the better, the youth must come forward and make the right choice,” he said to a thunderous applause.
Mr Gandhi categorically and firmly ruled out any political compromise or deal with the BSP in the future. “During the recent voting in Parliament, there were reports that there had been a deal between the Congress and the BSP. I want to make it very clear that no deal has happened and never will happen. We will remove the BSP from power because we will never compromise with the future of Uttar Pradesh,” he said while addressing a rally in Ahraura in Mirzapur district.
Mr Gandhi said that the politics of religion had been replaced by the politics of casteism in UP. “First, the Samajwadi Party formed government here. What did they do? You voted them out and then came BSP and everyone can see what they are doing too. The BSP claims to work for dalits but when I ask dalits brothers in UP that now you have your own government, they retort “Kaun si sarkar? Yahan koi sarkar nahin hai,” he said.
